The Inaugural 2023 CareStar Awards recognize and highlight the work and contributions of home care workers and bring greater awareness to the importance of the home care industry to the New York medical ecosystem. Shining the light on home care workers is critical to the industry’s sustenance, recognizing their invaluable work and commitment to delivering quality care to clients and their families.

What are the CareStar Awards?

The CareStar Awards recognize and highlight the work and contributions of post-acute care workers in 2023— the focus is on home care workers—bringing greater awareness to the importance of home and community-based services to the New York medical ecosystem.

While many people are still unaware or devalue the contribution of the over 130,000 Home Care Workers—Home Health aides and Personal Care Assistants in NYC and Long Island, the Anchor Group, in collaboration with several industry partners, presents the CareStar Awards 2023.

The 2023 CareStar Awards recognize the important roles and contributions of Home Care Workers to our communities, caring for clients and supporting their aging in place, allowing their families to continue engaging in their daily professional and social lives. In short, Home Care Workers are pivotal to the productive working of NYC and its health care system.

CareStar Categories

The CareStar Awards were created to recognize unrecognized post-acute care workers. This year, the awards highlight paraprofessionals, home care workers, and their contributions to the industry’s sustenance. The awards recognize their invaluable work and commitment to delivering quality care to clients and their families in New York City and Nassau County. The awards will:

Advocate Award

Awards: 3

Purpose:
The healthcare landscape has always had many changes.  Clients are not always clear about where and how to access resources.  This award recognizes the home care worker that goes about and beyond, being a voice to oftentimes to voiceless to ensure that their clients have all the resource they need to make the right decisions about their care and to sustain their daily lives

Commemorative Awards

Purpose:

Compassion Award

Awards: 3

Purpose:
One can be trained to check vitals, but the most vital skill is a naturally compassionate aide.  While this is our hope for every aide, this award will recognize the HCW that consistently shows great empathy and concern for their clients and intoxicates other aides and caregivers in the circle of care.  Always going the extra mile to ensure that their clients have all the support needed to thrive

Conqueror Award

Awards: 3

Purpose:
Recognizes that home care workers that have surmounted several challenges and adversities and continue to serve with diligence

Elevation Award

Awards: 3

Purpose:
Your starting point is not the finish.  The Elevation award recognizes an individual that began their career as a home care worker and has used the learning and exposure to move to another successful track within the healthcare industry.  Their initiative to win and endurance inspires us all.

In Memoriam Award

Awards: 1

Purpose:
There are some lights that are never extinguished in our hearts.  This award recognizes a home care worker that embodies the values and services of the home care profession.  This person was a leader that showed a high level of compassion, always advocating for clients, and other home care workers, and has left an indelible mark on our lives

Longevity Award

Award: 3

Purpose:
Three (3) living home care workers that has served the longest as a licensed home care worker

County-Pride Award

Awards: 6

Purpose:
The Home Care Worker (HCW) with the Most Votes from City Pride Award

CareStar of the Year

CareStar Highlights

Home care workers (HCWs) have been critical to supporting continuous care for seniors and disabled individuals in New York City, helping to reduce the cost of long-term care with its lower wage cost compared to nursing homes, hospitals, and rehab facilities, in addition to their contribution to reduction in hospitalization and other complications associated with poor medication adherence. The Anchor Group through its HealthXchange Division will be executing a series of activities focused on enhancing home care talent development.

The Anchor Group (www.anchorgroupcorp.com) first made its mark in the conference space with Go Caribbean! International Business & Investment Expo, which launched in 2014, and had an annual average of 400 attendees at its series of events and reached an estimated 25,000 Caribbean Americans through its promotional activities over its two-year run.
